Dear DBG Dresden members and friends,
we cordially invite you to our first meeting after what turned out to be a very long pause
on Saturday, 24 July 2021 at 16 hrs
at Café Friedrichstadt, Friedrichstraße 38-42, 01067 Dresden (near tram stop Weißeritzsstraße, line 10).
For this meeting we are planning a special event: a book launch.
We will present ” Phoenix”, the volume of poems by Peace Poet Antony Owen from Coventry. As many of you will know, this bilingual English and German edition is a project of the twinning between Dresden and Coventry: the translations are by a group of people from both cities who have worked together over the past year or so. Ten visual arts contributions by members of the Coventry-Dresden Art Exchange make this a twinning venture on more levels than one. Translators and artists will be present, as will be the editor of “Phoenix”, DBG member Rainer Barczaitis, to talk on how the book came about and answer questions.
The book will of course be available for purchase; if you want to have it as quickly as possible (and for some more info) please click
https://www.thelem.de/thelem/literatur-kulturwissenschaft/85229-owen-phoenix-ph%C3%B6nix/
After the book launch there will be time for a leisurely talk and an exchange of ideas on what we will want to do in the DBG Dresden during the next months.
We are looking forward to meeting you on Saturday, 24 July.
No previous testing is required; participants will be asked to enter their names in a list at the café.
DBG will invite you to a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the event. Food and beverage afterwards is available at Café Friedrichstadt Restaurant on your own account.
